The Boss was in the building

Rick Ross
American Hip hop heavy weight and The Source Magazines' 2010 Man of the Year, Rick Ross rocked the Dome of the Accra International Conference Centre Tuesday night, December 28, at what was arguably the most highly anticipated concert to hit the country.

Flanked by his Maybach Music team, Masspike Miles and Torch, the Teflon Don, as he is affectionately called, was just an unstoppable machine fulfilling the hype the show has received.

The man, born William Leonard Roberts II, was making his first appearance in Ghana and clearly, he loved every bit of it – he was instantly hit by the unquenchable energy from both the stage and a possessed crowd.

With a wide smile that showed he was deeply grateful to be in Ghana, the Boss was already rocking and was doing what he knows how to do best.

His presence drove the audience into a different realm, the result being an instant stampede as many wanted to catch a glimpse of the Hip hop maestro.

At that moment everybody was up standing, some standing on their 'needless' seats, with a sea of fans converging around the stage. The Boss proved why he is the Teflon Don
The Teflon Don was on fireCaught by the wild cheers, Rick Ross, who donned a white T-Shirt with a diamond crusted watch and necklace (bling-bling) at the first half of the show, was swift to work, dishing out well-known hits that cemented his name in the hearts of many.

He performed tracks like Hustlin, Push It, Magnificent, Here I am, Boss, and clearly, the show wouldn't have been complete without the main song for the tour Blow Money Fast Tour, Blow Money Fast performing it twice noticing that the crowd was down with the song; in fact the crowd took over from him rapping as if the song was theirs.

The total mastery with which Rick Ross performed, changing from one track to the other and his connection with the audience, clearly proved why he is one of the best in the world music industry.

Due to travel arrangements, the Teflon Don only rocked the stage for about an hour and man, he really rocked! Without a doubt, he left an indelible mark in the hearts and minds of many.

The night wasn't only about Rick Ross, other Ghanaian giants; Sarkordie, Asem, Kwaw Kese, Trigmatic, D-Black and Tinny also took turns to keep the crowd dancing all night long.

Kobi Rana Comes Again With A Bloody Movie: ?2BAD?

‘2BAD’ is a story of one orphan Kwabena Asante played by Kobi Rana who lives with his two siblings in a slum in Accra. Kwabena goes through the daily hustle and bustle of life in Accra to provide shelter and food for his siblings. This is what he went through as the older sibling.

However, his younger brother is in a world of his own stealing whatever he lays his eyes on, consequently bringing troubles to his senior brother who already has lots of issues to deal with. Like a typical slum behavioural, his younger brother rapes their little sister. Unluckily for him, he was apprehended and killed immediately during one of his stealing spree.
His raped sister died later, this opens Kwabena to the world. He seeks the help of three other lads who have had their share of torture with society. Together, they decide to take control of their destiny via the dangerous way. When they realized that THE SOLUTION IS WORSE THAN THE PROBLEM, It was “far” too late.

Mostly, how one is treated at his young age determines the kind of person he or she becomes in the future. Per how they were treated, monsters were created out of them hence taking to the streets to fend for themselves in a ruthless manner.

Kobi Rana casted several new but talented faces in this movie. This is because he still believes that “AFRICA CAN MAKE INTERNATIONALLY ACCEPTED MOVIES WITH OR WITHOUT POPULAR FACES” and cited the multiple Oscar award winning ‘Slumdog Millionaire’ as his perfect example.
‘2BAD’ was written and directed by Kobi Rana for A19 MEDIA. They have produced spectacular television commercials and documentaries over the years. This is just a warm up for the excellence ahead.

Ama Is Ghana's Most Beautiful

Last Sunday, the life of one young woman from the Central was changed. Ama drove away in a brand new Toyota Yaris after TV3 crowned her as ‘Ghana’s Most Beautiful’. For the next few months, she will be expected to portray true Ghanaian beauty and culture. But her victory was not without controversy. All throughout the competition (which lasted over three months) Ama’s wit and representation of her region left a lot to be desired.

But her captivating looks (in fact, one of the most beautiful ladies among all the contestants) kept her in competition. And that was what the show was about: beauty -- NOT the talent hunt/cultural display it turned out to be. Ama may have the beauty but there were others who believed that she had defects that run deeper than facial appeal. At the end of last Sunday’s show, many in the audience were heard murmuring about how she couldn’t answer her questions properly and how she failed to recite the national pledge. It is worthy of note that only Esinu from the Volta Region was able to say the pledge without paraphrasing it or mixing the lines.

The contestants started the night with a traditional dance and Gideon Aryeequaye, host of the show, went on to welcome the audience (both in the studio and at home) with a long winding speech. The foundations rehearsed lines had built gave way to on-the-spot thinking when the judges quizzed them. Ama disappointed a lot of her fans when she failed to recite the national pledge. But one of the judges threw her a lifeline by asking her to sing the second national anthem -- ‘Yen ara asaase ni’. She sang it well even though she got a few lines mixed up at the end.

Esinu was the only one who was able to settle the score with her perfect recitation of the national pledge. She also answered her questions fairly well. Adjoa came close, but did not quite hit the mark. Apart from Esinu, the finalists struggled to answer questions that centered on the redenomination of the cedi and the energy crisis. As happens with most beauty pageants, the question and answer session provided some comic relief for the audience and embarrassed the ladies.

After the questions, the ladies were given an opportunity to flaunt their stuff in exquisitely designed GTP wax prints. This didn’t quite excite the crowd and Ekow Savage’s attempt to revive the audience’s dreary mood with his Sunlife music didn’t quite hold up. Then came the moment of truth when the prizes were to be presented.

Eastern Region’s Nana placed fourth and took home a cheque for 20 million cedis and the ever-confident Adjoa from the Ashanti region was third, winning 30 million cedis. Esinu was second and she took home a cheque for 50 millions. In addition to her brand new Toyota Yaris, Ama also received a cheque for 10 million cedis. Each of the finalists received mobile phones and talk time from the competition’s title sponsor, One Touch.

4x4 Signed As First Ghanaian Airtel Ambassadors

The sensational Ghanaian music crew and 4syte video music award winning group 4X4 has revealed their partnership with leading mobile communications giant and new owners of Zain, Bharti Airtel.

Though refusing to disclose details of the deal due to a supposed policy of confidentiality, the Hiplife group becomes the networks first and official ambassadors in Ghana.

This came to light at the African Regent hotel during a press conference to announce the release of ONE8’s first single.

Ghanaians have become known for their gross disregard and lack of adherence to time over the years, a phenomenon now considered as a bad joke. This isn’t getting funny anymore rather eaten deep into the cultural fiber of the nation.

Hence, it is time event organizers in Ghana are told off and not allowed to hold their audience captives. This can’t be accepted in recent times when patrons are considered a major element for a successful event.

This was the exact situation at the Tuesday press conference when event organizers and officers of Airtel had to persuade some journalists who couldn’t endure the seemingly endless delay of the event.
